Summary: Isabel is a teenager with rheumatoid arthritis who writes in her school paper. When receiving treatment at the hospital her father works at, she meets teenager Sasha who is also chronically ill. Is she willing to break her rule of no dating for the boy who understands her better than anyone?

Recommendation: This book is a warm hug that you can come back to over and over. This book tackles topics such as chronic illness, but there’s no threat of them dying in this one! (not a spoiler) There is a lot of honesty around health problems and family problems that I think are really important to read, all while Isabel and Sasha are enjoying New York city during the winter. It’s a very cozy read!

Summary: Richard’s cousin Malley runs away with a stranger she met online. Richard knows she is in danger and sets off to find her. He teams up with Skink, who is the former governor of Florida, but now he helps Richard navigate the wilderness to save Malley.

Recommendation: This book shows off the beauty and the danger of Florida’s wildlife. I was hooked as I read about each adventure they go on to track down and save Malley. The stakes get higher as they travel further in the wetlands. I really found this book exciting and impactful when I read it.

Summary: Maddie lives in the middle of nowhere in Alaska with her bedazzled hatchet living a solitary life with her father who is retired from the US secret service. When Logan, son of the president, gets sent to live with Maddie and her father as punishment, trouble breaks loose. Maddie and Logan find themselves running away from an assassin in the Alaskan wilderness while trying to reconcile their broken relationship.

Recommendation: This book is one you can’t put down as Maddie and Logan traverse through a winter storm in the brutal Alaskan landscape while being chased down! It’s a lot of fun and has a lot of sweet moments.

Summary: Meredith and her family go to Marth’s Vineyard for her cousin’s wedding. This trip is the first trip without her sister who unexpectedly passed away. But she has the perfect distraction with her family’s tradition of playing a huge game assassin. The game is helping her open back up to the world, but her feelings for the cute groomsman threaten her heart.

Recommendation: This is the perfect summer read. It has the beach vibes but it also has all the feels. Meredith is dealing with grief and heartbreak and it’s easy to connect to her character. It’s a good book to laugh at while having a lot of heart.

Summary: Willa’s life is starting over again in Hollywood after her mom remarries after her father died. Trapped in guilt Willa keeps trying to contact her father but starts having visions that no one seems to be able to see. Also, the Hollywood killer is loose, killing young women, and her classmate is obsessed with the case.

Recommendation: This book has all the glamour of Hollywood, while having the intrigue of the mystery. This was one of the first books I read in one sitting because it kept me guessing who the real killer is and who are the ghosts that Willa is seeing? The story is engaging but Willa is a messy character dealing with grief and is very relatable.
